Opening act: Syncopation with Jeff Hamilton and Steve Smith doing “Salt Peanuts.”
Summer months used to be a lot quieter on the music scene around Denton. Now, we have many standard gigs around town as guests playing with regular bands, such as Jefferey Barnes bringing fellow reed-man David Lee Schloss to sit in with Mr Joe Jazz Band and Le Not So Hot Klub du Denton for the First Tuesday Celebration at Sweetwater Grill &Tavern, 115 S. Elm St. last night. Actually, the performance was top-notch for both the Dixieland and the Gypsy Jazz sets. (A special nod to C. A. Bell playing trumpet.) The crowd was very appreciative – a great night on the patio.
Check Discover Denton (http://www.discoverdenton.com/calendar-2/), or Denton Live in the Thursday Denton Record-Chronicle for many more music events.
