With a meager 40% chance of rain forecast by the weather guys, is bad reporting … the Walnut off the Square weather team predicts clear skies and mild temperatures for the free, family-friendly, festival that blocks vehicles from Walnut and S. Elm streets.
Vendors of food, merchandise, soft drinks and Irish ice cream treat, samples of baked goods, face painting and (of course) beer, will pitch their tents along the Walnut and S. Elm.Image may be NSFW.

Live music begins with the Traditional Irish music of County Rexford (known for their Wednesday evening sessions at The Abbey Inn.)
Rock band Remain, changes the pace for their set, while the well-known, “skunkgrass” group Boxcar Bandits takes us to the 11 O’Clock hour.
This year, St. Paddy’s Day will feature, Irish, Rock and “Skunkgrass” live music, with County Rexford, Remain and Boxcar Bandits, Irish and domestic brews, soft drinks, Irish food, Skittles and Bowls, and children’s costume contest, the Show Us You’re Irish! adult contest, Best Beard Contest and the St. Paddy’s Pub Crawl.
Yes, everything-Irish will be uniform of the event, as we will invite children to show off costumes in their contest, immediately after the opening ceremony is at 6:30 PM, with the official Irish blessing and toast.
At 8 PM, rock band Remain takes a break to allow adults their turn vamping their awesome costumes for “Show Us You’re Irish!” adult contest. Followed by the Best Beard Contest.
Back to Live Music, with Boxcar Bandits taking the stage at 9:30 PM.
Benefiting Denton Kiwanis Club Children’s Clinic and Walnut off the Square, the ultimate block party has an expanded and improved street layout, with a streamlined beer-tent concept, and is sponsored by Miller of Denton, Frenchy’s Lawn & Tree Service, World Famous Moms Place Home Cooking (Aubrey), Beth Marie’s Old Fashioned Ice Cream, Chestnut Tree Teahouse and Bistro, Sweetwater Grill & Tavern and Ed Steele Photography.
Already becoming one of the city’s favored festival and event sites, Walnut Street and the adjoining block of S. Elm Street – in Historic Downtown Denton – will close the street to vehicles, making room for food, beer, merchandise and service vendors, offering Irish fare, face-painting, ice cream and T-shirts. Walnut and S. Elm St. businesses will also be open to festival goers.
