Saying “goodbye” to the White House Espresso Bar, and – yes – the Vocal Jazz Showcase.

I received an email from Jeffry Eckels with the news …

Ginny Mac with Jeffry Eckels at the White House in June.

Ginny Mac with Jeffry Eckels at the White House in June.

It is with a heavy heart I announce that “Jeffry Eckels presents Jazz at the White House, A Vocal showcase” will be coming to an end after a wonderful three-year stint.

Mike White, the owner, has done everything in his power to make the White House a success. Due to circumstances beyond his control, he has to close the doors for good. He was a huge supporter of Wednesday Night Jazz and I assure you, the closing has nothing to do with the amazing music that was performed every Wednesday, often times to packed houses!

I’d like to thank the entire staff and management for being so supportive and kind to us while we were there. It truly was a magical place to make music. We were equally inspired inside the funky, artsy coffee house or outside in the beer garden under the stars! To all those vocalists and instrumentalists who allowed me to perform with them every week, I am honored and thankful to have had the opportunity!

I am currently looking for a new venue to start another weekly jazz/funk night in Denton. Please check in often and I’ll keep you posted.  Thank you!

So we are down two regular Jazz venues (lest we forget the 10-year run at Banter Bistro.)

Fear not, dear Readers, Denton Jazz springs forth in other locations!

  • Jazz at The Greenhouse Restaurant, 600 N. Locust – Mondays, 10-Midnight.
